TOP 3 SQUARESPACE TEMPLATES THAT ARE AMAZING FOR BLOGGERS

Hi! ooook,

Squarespace has tons of different templates. I have 3 favourites for bloggers. I break down exactly what I like and don't like about all 3.

Skye:

Skye is the newest and the most blogger friendly template in my opinion. It's visually driven and it has some pretty awesome tricks up it's sleeve, like being able to show either the image of a post or the Title if you choose.

This is a magazine style blog, and really showcases your post.

Pros:

  • The "Burger Button" opens up a really nice About me section.
  • The blog itself has an easily customizable sidebar.

  • Cons:

  • Can't have a separate header for each image.
  • Can't have that fancy, opt-in here button in the header image. (Scroll to Pacifica review for that info)

Final Thoughts skye:

I suggest this to any blogger who does not blog about blogging. I will almost definitely switch my Home Decor Blog Back to this Template I liked it that much.

Five:

Pro:

  • Great blog page that includes customizable sidebar
  • Ability to have custom footer for the blog post section only ( so you can have related post show up there automatically)
  • Con:

  • Can't have that fancy, opt-in here button in the header image. (Scroll to Pacifica review for that info)
  • Does not have the pretty "Burger Button" about me section.
  • Does not have the magazine scroll. (I was able to easily create that using the Summary Block)
  • I've used this template for months and really like it. I do find it faster than Skye but I haven't done extensive testing on that. This is one of the most popular templates for bloggers using Squarespace.

Final Thoughts on five:

Great for bloggers who have large images. I was using it in my design blog to showcase a different hero image depending on which page you are on. It's very customizable, the possibilities are nearly endless.

Pacific:

Pro:

The pro for Pacific can all be wrapped up in one thing. It's an INDEX site. That means you can have multiple full bleed images on your site which is extremely gorgeous when done well.

The biggest benefit to using an INDEX template is the ability to add Opt-Ins to your Banner images.

Con:

No Side bar for blog posts! I have not found a way to get around this and it's a pain in the but. That's valuable real-estate. On the other hand my blog post are full page and very clean. (I had to google how to make Pacific full page and add CSS to the site)

Final Thoughts on pacific:

If you blog about blogging, Or intend to have an option and want to be able to add buttons to your Header image, than an Index page is the way to go. This is the most blogging friendly of all the Squarespace Index Templates and the one I use for this site. You are currently on a site using the Pacific Template. Take a peak around and see if you like it.

Unfortunately, I'm the Goldy Locks of Squarespace and haven't found anything that perfectly matches my needs. A hybrid SKYE and PACIFC would do the trick though. I have been able to make all of these work for me either customizing them with blocks or doing quick google searches for the custom CSS. It's also extremely easy to add code in Squarespace and I know nothing about code and do it all the time.
